Australian memorials
Introduction
This site was developed by members of the Society to support family historians whose field of study takes in the Anglo-Boer War of 18991902. It was launched on 11 October 1999the 100th anniversary of the start of the warand was re-developed in the first quarter of 2002.
The Department of Veterans' Affairs assisted with funding in 1999 under the Federal Government's 'Their ServiceOur Heritage' commemorative program. The National Memorial Council of South Africa provided the Australian records from their Victims of Conflict database through the Office of Australian War Graves.
The site now has a searchable database of information from Australian Boer War memorials. The work on this database is on-going and we welcome contributions of photographs and transcriptions of memorials.
